Reaction to Gay Marriage in Massachusetts

President Bush reacted to gay marriage in Massachusetts by reiterating his call for a constitutional amendment defining marriage as solely between a man and a woman. His written statement is posted here. Rhode Island Attorney General Patrick Lynch issued an opinion indicating that any marriages validly performed in another state would be recognized in that state. Connecticut AG Richard Blumenthal said that it was illegal for same-sex couples to marry in that state, but, in a letter to Governor Romney, indicated that same-sex marriages preformed in massachusetts would not be automatically void in Connecticut.
